When And How To Tap Maple Trees

Make sure you like Homestead and Survival on Facebook to be updated every time we find a tutorial for innovative ways you can become self-sufficient on a budget.

This video will help you if you have maple trees and want to know how to tap them for their maple sap. Typically the best time to tap maple trees is between February and March, but ultimately the correct time will depend on your climate. We recommend that you check with local resources to determine the best tapping time for where you live.

Making maple syrup from the sap you collect is quite easy. Basically all you do is boil down the sap and condense it. It takes approximately 40 parts of maple sap to make 1 part maple syrup.

It’s very important to treat your maple trees with the same respect and care that you give all other crops you grow and harvest. By tapping your maple trees responsibly, you will be able to tap them for sap year after year.
