The cold of winter means you may need to apply various methods to keep your house warm. There are many ways to do this, but oneĀ option is to build a window box solar heater. The best thing you can also use it as a solar oven. All you need to do is build one of your own.

Material List

Greenhouse panels
Wood base
Metal brackets
Solar fans
Power drill
Tape measure
Wood supports

The size of your window box solar heater depends on the size of the window. You will need to cut the greenhouse panels and wood base to match the dimensions of your window. The L-brackets will be used to secure the panels and the base.

Measure from the bottom of your window to the ground and cut a 2×4 or other piece of wood to use to help support the solar heater. The L-brackets can also be used to secure the window box solar heater to the side of the house if necessary.

Simply close your window to retain heat in the box when you want to use it as a solar oven. Many foods can be prepared in the solar oven depending on what you want to make. You can cook eggs, rice, and a variety of other foods.
