Solar Dehydrator

You can use a Solar Dehydrator to dry fruit, vegetables, flowers, jerky, and paper bricks.  A solar dehydrator uses no electricity.  It dries the food by heating air and creating a chimney effect that draws the heated air over the food. This YouTube shows a nice overview of the process and how much food can be dried at once.

Step by Step Do It Yourself

Want to build your own solar dehydrator, but want all the details? Then you will want a copy of Eben Fodor’s The Solar Food Dryer: How to Make and Use Your Own Low-Cost, High Performance, Sun-Powered Food Dehydrator.

This book also includes detailed instructions for prepping and storing the foods once they are dried.
