One of the most important things to know about maintaining your septic system is not overusing water in the home. Water from faucets, showers, and toilets all flow through your septic system. If you use lots of water in your home, then a failure of the system may be a possibility.

Maintaining your septic system is a lot like conserving water. You need to fix many of the same issues like leaking faucets, installing low flow shower heads, and using water efficient toilets. However, there are also a lot of other things that you should and should not do to maintain your septic system.
