Over at Build It Solar, they feature Greg’s DIY solar heating panels using recycled soda cans, and offer a downloadable project tutorial. Essentially, the cans have the tops and bottoms of the can removed, are painted with black paint (to absorb the heat of the sun), and are assembled in vertical columns. There is a manifold at the bottom of the unit that passes the air evenly throughout the panel and another manifold at the top that directs heat into a room.
