Are you looking for a unique way to grow food at home? One structure that will have a lot of advantages on any type of homestead is a keyhole garden. This type of garden gets its name from the way it is builtĀ and they way you maintain it on your property.

If you have a source of stone and some chicken wire or wire fencing, then you already have a lot of the materials needed to build a keyhole garden. You only need to have some cinder blocks, wood, or something to use as the walls of the garden, once you determine where it will go.

A keyhole garden works by using the chicken wire to create a compost tube. You will put food or other material to compost in the tube to provide nutrients to the plants in the garden. The main benefit is you can save a lot of water and be able to use recycled materials.
