Just how long should you leave a clay-based mask on your skin? According to Sharon McGlinchey, a facialist and the creator of MV Organic Skincare, a clay mask should NOT be left on your face until it’s totally dried.
McGlinchey describes the three phases on a clay mask as damp, starting to dry, and dry. The damp phase is when your skin is absorbing the beneficial minerals and nutrients from the mask. The starting-to-dry phase is when the capillary action is strongest and your blood flow under the mask is at maximum.
Once the clay moves into the dry phase, dehydration and irritation has begun. So, remove the clay before the clay fully dries for maximum positive results when using Humblebee & Me’s coconut face mask.
