Walnut oil is chock full of health benefits. It is important to note that walnut oil has a short shelf life, one of only 6 to 12 months. Of course, in the store it’s difficult to tell the exact age of the product, but it should be a clear yellow topaz color. Once you get the walnut oil home and open it, it’s a good idea to keep it refrigerated to prevent it from becoming rancid.
Without going into the actual benefits, some of the ingredients of walnut oil that you may recognize as extremely beneficial are copper, monounsaturated fats, ellagic acid, manganese, melatonin, ALA, DHA, EPA, phytonutrients, selenium, phosphorous, magnesium, zinc, iron, and calcium. Whew!…And it tastes great!
