Well, it’s that time of the year again and here you are, looking for gift ideas. We all love DIY gifts, but sometimes there just isn’t time to DIY all of them. Also, every homesteader is different from every other homesteader. Some will appreciate the gifts that make their hard work a little less hard and some will appreciate feeling decadent. Everyone else is somewhere between!
Well, we think it’s impossible for you to look through all three parts of our gift ideas without finding at least one thing that someone you know can’t (or doesn’t want to) live without. There are gifts geared for every member of the family – including the four legged ones. Browse through this list of ideas and you’re sure to find just the right thing – or at the very least, an idea that jogs your brain in the right direction! There’s at least one thing in these three lists that should spark some holiday excitement for everyone.
Watch Ya’ Mouth Game
You can buy this game or skip right to the dental mouth opener thingies. It’s not even necessary to serve drinks when this game is at the party. If you haven’t heard of this game yet, look it up on YouTube and see what’s it’s all about. Hilarity! That’s what it’s all about!
Backyard Gear Water Station
There’s a place to wash your hands and still be able to use the hose with this outdoor sink. You’ll wonder why you haven’t put one of these in your yard before. They also make a great gift for you favorite gardener.
Bird Repellent Scary Eye Balloons
If you don’t have access to huge white beach balls to paint eyeballs on, this is the next best thing. Just hang these bird repellant eyes close to whatever you want to protect from the birds, but it will be necessary to move them frequently and remember that nothing will dissuade birds (or most any animals) that are hungry / thirsty enough.
My Critter Catcher – Spider & Insect Catcher
Anything that captures a spider from an arms distance is a good thing as far as I’m concerned, and this critter catcher is designed to only capture them – not kill them. Yes, spiders provide a great service in nature, but nature is outside! My personal preference is my vacuum that has a LONG wand.
Aervana – One-Touch Luxury Wine Aerator
This aerator would be a great present for that special someone in your life that likes a little bit of the vino but has a physical issue that prevents them from picking up a full bottle.
Magnetic Bottle Hanger
The best part of these beer magnets is it’s easy to tell exactly how many bottles you have left with just a glance in the refrigerator. Of course, to hold “enough” beer you’ll need 2 sets! Ok, I guess they could be used for other beverages, too.
Portable Gas Smoker
Many people live in areas where even an enclosed fire to use a smoker just isn’t practical. That’s where this portable gas smoker comes into play. Great for your suburban friends who hunt and fish.
Kid’s Shower Head
Maybe you don’t have any young children, but if you have friends that do, they will enjoy getting one of these kid’s size shower heads. Anything to make it easier to get kids to get clean is appreciated!
Time Locking Container
Some people have suggested this for kids, but let’s face it, “grown ups” probably need it more. This food safe with a timer is great to have if willpower just isn’t your thing.
Have a friend that misses gardening but just doesn’t have much space? This garden in a can could be a good gift for them. You could also try making these yourself! They come in a few different choices including basil, cilantro, dill, and sage. There’s even a variety pack.
Spiral Fruit Basket
With one of these it’s easy to keep enough air circulating around the fruit to keep them fresh. This spiral fruit basket is also nice to look at and doesn’t take up much counter space.
3-in-1 Baking Rack
You can put this triple layer baking rack in your oven so you can cook more (cookies hopefully) in one session. Decrease the time the hot oven is heating up the house on a summer day and, as a side benefit, have more cookies!
Fire Extinguisher Ball
Don’t know if the technology is up to snuff yet, but love the idea of a fairly benign way to put out fires when no one is home. Once the fire extinguisher ball reaches a certain temperature it “disperses the non-toxic fire suppressant.” This item was featured on Outrageous Acts of Science and it was pretty cool! This could be great for helping to put out fires when you’re not home!
Heat Resistant Silicone Oven Rack Guard
When I saw these, I immediately ordered a pair of these oven rack guards for myself as it seems like every year I sport a new scar on one arm or the other from reaching into the oven and touching that darn upper rack. Not this year, oven rack, not this year…
Medicine Dispensing Sippy Cup
If you have ever had little ones, you probably know the frustration of getting them to take medicine when needed. well, sometimes you just gotta trick a child into taking their medicine. Now there are options like this sippy cup or even binkies..
Lunch Crock Food Warmer
If you don’t work from home you probably work where there’s a lunch room of some kind. In that lunch room is probably a dirty, disgusting microwave that everyone uses and only one person (probably you) cleans. Now you can give up cleaning that microwave AND give up microwaving your food. This portable crock pot heater is the answer to hot lunches without the “ugh” factor. Even better as a gift if the person you want to give it to is the “volunteer” microwave cleaner.
Electric Food Fryer
Sometimes you just gotta have fried food – but now you don’t have to have all the oil that is usually in that fried food. With one of these air fryers you can have all the taste and leave behind most of the calories from oil.
“Family Rules” Sign
Everyone you know knows that you could make one of these in a few hours, so none of them will have a clue that you bought this sign online and spent that 2 hours in an easy chair while enjoying a large mug of hot chocolate. We’ll never tell!
Silicone Baking Mat
If you know someone that uses a lot of parchment paper for baking, they might really enjoy getting a pair of these cooking mats. My friend got me these a few years ago & they’re definitely a favorite kitchen item! A must-have if you like to bake. Use them for everything such as cookies, pizza, candy, meats…even rolling out dough! Nothing sticks…makes things so much easier.
A vacuum sealer is really a must for those of us that need to make our food stretch as far as possible. Food sealed with a vacuum sealer like this lasts longer in the refrigerator or the freezer or even the pantry. It’s also great for portioning out the food for school lunches.
Cabinet Organizer for Pots and Pans
It seems like one of the things that gets out of hand quickly in the kitchen is pot lids. Solve the dilemma with one of these pull-out organizers for not only the lids, but the pans as well.
Stair Climbing Folding Cart
Sure, these are great for going to the grocery store, but if you know someone that goes to high school or college, they would probably really appreciate one of these. It’s alarming how much stuff they have to carry around – a laptop, text books, notebooks, phones, and more. Not only will these carts carry it all, they are designed to make it easily up curbs and stairs!
Cuisinart Soft Serve Ice Cream Maker
We kind of wish we’d never seen these ice cream makers. Soft serve ice cream on demand? Sounds dangerous and wonderful, all at once. Definitely a great choice for that someone in your life with a sweet tooth.
Trees Tunnel Mural
This glow-in-the-dark wall mural (it’s just one scene of many the company offers) would be great for a fairy tale room that offers a built-in night light. Any youngster would be happy to gaze down the road that leads to the castle every night while drifting off to sleep.
“Bless The Food Before Us” Decal
When we first saw this it was not clear that this is actually a decal that covers an entire table-top. Great for the “family” table around Thanksgiving time.
Bluetooth Shower Head
Now you can sing in the shower all you want, and be a lot more likely to sing in tune. Just install this bluetooth shower head and you can sing along with the actual song as it plays on your bluetooth device.
Glass Bottle Cutter
It’s always great when you recycle and the result of your recycling is actually functional and good looking. Now you can create all kinds of glass, vases, chimes, and other useful items from glass bottles. This glass bottle cutter is sure to keep someone happy for hours and hours while they are figuring out what to do with all those cut bottles.
First of all, these butterfly benches are really cute. One of them could be just the thing your friend’s garden has been needing. It provides a place to sit and read or dream – and it would add charm to almost any garden.
Flip Out TV Mount
Trying to figure out how to sneak a television into your house and still make your neighbors believe you’re that crazy person down the street that doesn’t have a tv? Well, this tilting tv mount is your answer! Watch tv all you want, then when you’re done, the tv rotates up and it’s replaced with a piece of art. Keep your reputation and enjoy your tv, too!
Seems like the thing that should be most appealing about this batter dispenser it the fact that, with a little practice, you could totally make pancakes that were exactly the same size. Nothing is more fulfilling than a neat stack of pancakes.
Behind Door Storage Cabinet
Who among you have enough storage space? That’s right – none of us. Everyone can gain a little more storage with this storage cabinet that attaches to an already existing door in your house. There’s usually room behind almost every door in every house because of the space allowed for the door knob. That means unused space. This clever cabinet makes use of that space.
If a door has a door knob and hinges, this portable lock will work with it. It’s a great thing to have along with you while staying anywhere you aren’t familiar or if you just moved into a new house and haven’t changed the locks yet.
It’s cute. It’s comfy. This mermaid blanket would be a great gift for most any lover of all things mermaid.
Gummy Bear Mold
With a couple of these gummy bear molds someone could crank out homemade gummy vitamins or even tiny chocolate bears.
Another contender for spider catcher. This model uses vacuum to suck up the unsuspecting spider. That being said, if I had spiders the size of the one in this photo, I’d probably be considering a move.
Retro Kitchen Station
This retro kitchen station comes in the color shown and in red. It would be a great item to give a student going off to college or someone renting a room. It has everything needed to make a complete hot meal all built into one compact appliance.
Lasagna Trio Pan
It seems like all large families have at least one person in the family that doesn’t like a certain ingredient. With a trio pan like this one, you can easily make a version with all ingredients and a version with limited ingredients. In addition this pan could be used to make banana nut bread, brownies with nuts, and brownies without nuts at the same time. Enough said! You’ll need a skinny spatula too.
These stretch lids are good for almost any bowl and a weirdly shaped bowl is no challenge at all for them. They nest inside one another for storage.
Any breastfeeding mother knows your arms aren’t quite at the right angle of attachment for comfortable breastfeeding. Now someone has come up with a solution for that with this breastfeeding pillow. They come in all kinds of colors and patterns so you’re sure to find one that fits anyone’s personality.
This touchless vacuum plugs in and is at the ready for any time debris comes into the range of the “eye” that causes the vacuum to turn on. In the reviews one woman said it seemed to come on at night very rarely and she imagined it was sucking up an unsuspecting spider. That’s enough of a reason for me to have one if you ask me.
